Time for an update

It seems that all the recents post are more about Lucas and all the changes going on with him (they do change so fast in that first year) but our little Emma is also changing... So this post is about her and her accomplishments!

Emma will be 2 years old in 3 weeks...can you beleive it!!! She can be shy around lots of new people but once she gets comfortable, watch out! She is a little fire cracker. She is funny and sweet. She is so smart. She gives the best kisses. She loooooves her mommy (we have separation anxiety every time I leave but only for a couple of minutes). She now loves her little brother and will kiss him on the head every day and wants to make him happy when he cries. But she does think that everything the baby has should be hers also... so we are working on sharing. We are also working on learning colors. So far she got ORANGE down...everything is always orange...a true longhorns fan already!!! She loves to help me bake muffins in the morning. We have become the muffins queens, banana, blueberry, raspberry, peach, zucchini, quinoa...you name we bake it! She also loves to swim, well to be in the water since she can't swim yet, but when she can watch out!!! She has no fear of the water...which is actually a little scary for us at times.

Before we moved to Montreal Emma said some words in Spanish (really only 2 or 3), she said some in French, but mostly she talked in English. Since the move, her vocabulary has increased tremendously and some of the words that she only said in English before she now says in French. I don't know if it's the timing or that her world is more French now, or a combination of both. It has been so much fun being able to communicate more and more with her. She can tell us what food she wants, where it hurts, she tells us stories about event of the day, what she wants or not want to wear. Oh yes Emma has an opinion. Every morning she wants to wear a dress, not a skirt, because it is too hot (even if it is cold out) , a dress every morning, not a skirt, no shorts, no pants, a dress only. For a while it was a struggle every morning because she wanted to wear her rain boots... until it rained a lot and she understood what rain was! So now the second she sees rain she run for her rain boots and rain jacket. She also has an opinion on which barrettes she should wear (or not wear) every day.

She continues to amaze us everyday!

I know I said this post would only be about Emma but like I said above they change so fast in that first year...I just can't help myself but to write an update about our little man.

Lucas is 5 1/2 months old. He now eats cereal, apples, peaches, zucchini, sweet potatoes with a big appetite!!! Since he started eating pureed food about 2 weeks ago, this little boy has changed and grown. He is now a little stockier (I was very concerned about his weight for a while, at 4 1/2 months he was still only 14 pounds and no baby fat in sigh). He loves to play on the floor and grabbing all they toys in reach...actually not only the toys but everything in reach. He has a special way that makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world ( I thought those smiles were just for me but no he will make them to anybody that will smile back at him)...he will smile at you in a way that you cannot concentrate on anything else...makes it very hard when we go to the store and he is facing out in the baby borjn and he smiles and smiles and smiles at every body! He is laughing and making all short of noises (the cutest sounds you will ever hear).

He also continues to amaze us every day!
