9 Months!

Emmanuelle is undoubtedly the joy of our lives. The past 9 months went by in a blink. It seems like only yesterday when I was looking at some of our food and thinking that one day she would be eating with us and making a mess. Well that day is here! Emma is such a good eater; she really does like everything and has a great appetite. The dogs have now caught on that it is in their interest to stay around the high chair at mealtime, and they do. Her smile is so contagious and she is always smiling (really) so we can’t help but just smile with her. It really is great therapy after any hard day at work.

Since my mother went back to Montreal, Emma goes to day care. The first 2 weeks were awful, more for Jeff than for me since he drops her off in the mornings and I, as the “good” parent, pick her up at night. She cried every morning when they stepped in the door of the day care for the first 2 weeks and every night as soon as she heard my voice, then one day she stopped, and now she actually seems happy to see the baby sitter and all the kids. The good thing about starting day care is that she also started sleeping through the nights. It turns out day care is tiring.

At nine months, she now crawls everywhere and is very fast. She has gotten so good at crawling that I think she might get lazy about learning to walk. It does not matter where she is in the house as soon as the dishwasher door is open she will “run” for it. She loves it; she takes stuff in and out, and sometimes climbs in it. She now has discovered all the cabinets in the kitchen and those too are starting to be very interesting. She is so curious. She now waves goodbye. She waves to really anything. She will wake up and just wave, almost as though she had missed some waves during the night. She waves when she eats, when we go to the store (of course that’s a big hit with all the people), she will wave at Balou and Kobe, tonight she waved at the pots and pan for a good 5 minutes. Unlike her parents she has rhythm, whenever she hears music she will bounce up and down and dance. It is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. She does a lot of talking, mostly blahblah, maaaamaaa, daaaadaaaa, paaaaapaaaa. And we are still waiting for her first tooth.
