We are in it up to our neck...Terrible twos that is!

This is not the first time I bring up the Terrible Twos. But Oh Boy, it is though, and it makes you wonder why people have more children (thank God we had our little Lucas before all this or else I can't for sure tell you we would want more). We are in constant fear of the next tantrum...you can never tell what will make it fire up again... So what's a mom to do??? Read more parenting books of course.

I grabbed one out of my mother's bookcase (probably one that she read when I was little by the look of it). I flipped some pages and the first thing I read, and I quote: "if your child bites, bite him back. It should only takes about 2-3 weeks before he stops"... Well there's a book I am not reading anymore and I wonder if this can explain some of the scares I have;). Maybe it did have good ideas in there but I am turned off by that comment...so back on the self you go.

The next book I read is a book that my dad "borrowed" from a young mom. I again flipped the pages and the first thing I read is that THE best thing you can do for your kid is to read to them every night... Well we are keeping this one!!! We are already reading to Emma every night... so this is a huge ego booster for us.

The next book I read is a book recommended from a friend at the park, What to expect: toddler years. This time untead of flipping pages I go directly to what is pertinent to us right now: How to deal with tantrums. This is what I read, the best way to deal with them is to avoid them... Well if I knew what sets off the tantrums in our house I would try but I don't know and they are very unpredictable. And what about the tantrums about issues that cannot be avoided like sharing, no hitting, wearing hats in the winter, taking a bath at nights, eating dinner...what about those??? This book is huge (surely there's something good in it for me) so I keep reading. There is!! It's like my new bible. So far the information is really good and I would recommend it to all parents with young kids. Now let's see if I can make it work for us.

Do you have any good parenting books to recommend ??? I'd like to hear about it.

HEY!!! We are in the same boat. We're reading our third LOVE and LOGIC book. It has worked wonders! No spanking, no yelling....etc....
It's all about choices and giving empathy......
I highly recommend it!
I am currently reading "Love and Logic Magic for early childhood. Practical parenting from birth to six years."
Good luck-they are both so precious. Before we read this one I would not even consider a 3rd child, but now I will. =)
